When I’m editing documents for people, I sometimes make corrections (or ask the writer to make corrections) in formatting in order to make the document look more professional. Most of the times, the changes I’m asking for are based on years of experience I have as a former typesetter.
A lot of people (myself included) use Microsoft Word for creating documents. While Word makes formatting easier, it also makes some assumptions that may need to be “tweaked” a little.
It’s also possible that documents might be made using something other than Word (such as this web page). In these cases, some things have to be done manually because the software isn’t taking care of the potential issues automatically.
I’ll be adding to these pages from time to time, when teaching opportunities come up. Enjoy!
